Ian Meadows personal blog A website all about me and my life in England http://www.ianmeadows.me.uk Feel free to use this but please ensure you credit me and add a return link to www.ianmeadows.me.uk Mixing business with pleasure Under normal circumstances this website and my work life are two very different worlds that never collide.   The first reason for this is common sense.  There have been so many blogs and Facebook pages that have resulted in people loosing their jobs it’s not worth the risk.  The second is just as obvious I guess – it’s my personal site so why fill it with work?  This blog can be dull enough without me writing about a day of meetings or trying to work out why a HTML email looks great in Gmail but looks rubbish in Outlook 2007!However, needs must.Cranfield has decided that marketing Cranfield University is no longer a requirement and announced this week that the Business Development office is to close.   Some jobs like the Enquiries Office are safe but marketing and web aren’t.   Therefore I need a job, and fast!If you, or you know someone who, has a vacancy for an online marketing / website marketing or web content manager please get in contact. Finally got round to writing about Christmas.  It was an odd one, it was like Christmas 1989 and I was 15 all over again.  Why?  It was all James May's fault, he does a show about Airfix, I talk about building them as a kid and hey presto - Airfix for Christmas!!! The first to be built was a Harrier GR3, see the top image on the right.  The second was a Typhoon 1b, which has gone together a little better I think.  WWII models are always a little easier as there are less bits to put together. I have to say though, I'm not happy with the colour, needed more research, oh god - it's happening again. It was kind of cool being a kid again and building them.  More to come, probably!  I do have my eye on the HMS Warspite model, I do have a kind a reason for this as Granddad was on her during the war. http://www.ianmeadows.me.uk/blog/blog.php?blog=88 Sun, 10 Jan 2010 00:00:00 +0000 For once I'm organised! For once in my life I am almost ready for something.  The oil tank is full all the Christmas food in the house and all presents wrapped. The only fly in the ointment is the snow, which as anyone with a horse will tell you is fun for the first few hours then becomes a major headache. Thankfully the horses are bare-foot so I don't have a problem with snowballing in their feet so they can spend a little time out in the field.  They do so enjoy rolling around and charging about in the snow for some reason. When I get round to it I may get some piccies but to be honest you've seen one picture of them in the snow and you've seen them all.  However I have added a little video of them walking around the field on the first day. Hope everyone has a good Christmas and New Year!!! http://www.ianmeadows.me.uk/blog/blog.php?blog=87 Tue, 22 Dec 2009 00:00:00 +0000 Video star Given the fact that Parelli assessment is now undertaken online via YouTube we decided that the old VHS tape camera was more than a pain in the bottom.  Converting it all to digital, editing and then uploading was making the process way to long.  Therefore a new digital video camera was purchased, nothing fancy just a £100 Samsung. As a result I am now chief cameraman for Nadia and the level three auditions - the first ones for the the liberty audition are now live: www.ianmeadows.me.uk/level3-nm.  Not the best camera work in the world as although I still need to get me head around the millions of options Adobe Premier offers to encode the file!  Sorry therefore to all the Parelli team who have to view the files!! http://www.ianmeadows.me.uk/blog/blog.php?blog=86 Sun, 06 Dec 2009 00:00:00 +0000 Wives, who'd have 'em?! Nadia spent the weekend helping out at the Parelli Celebration at the LG Arena (it appears the NEC has gone all corporate!).  Well that was the plan, it appeared she went shopping! "I've got you a present"  she says as she walks in the door after three days - a Parelli hat, cool.  Well not actually as it's woolly but "hot" didn't sound right! She asked for a hand bringing her present in. Seemed odd, how big was it?  VERY!  A Parelli Western Saddle.  Not content with the boots she has the saddle now - if she takes up line-dancing I'm off!!  I mean, I'd make a crap cowboy, I hate beans!!  See the video below: Of course I'm taking it seriously!!! Just to continue the Parelli theme to the week it was the Gold Summit at Stoneleigh Park so off we popped to listen to Pat and Linda.  It was great, a real chance to see them without all the glitz and glamour and see the passion they have for the whole think.  It was a bit wierd at times, what's with the Savvy clap????????  Nadia also got to meet the great man himself - bit pleased with herself!!!! As I write this she's off in the new saddle, hopefully with Stacy's help we'll know how to fit it now.  Believe me they are very different to an English saddle. It was suggested that we blog about our Parelli journey - mmm, a point to my blog - that could be a good idea!!!  Back soon!!! http://www.ianmeadows.me.uk/blog/blog.php?blog=85 Fri, 27 Nov 2009 00:00:00 +0000
